If a paper jam occurs inside the Buffer Pass Unit-J1, a screen prompting you to remove the jammed paper appears on the touch panel display. Check the location of the paper jam, and follow the procedure described below, while referring to the directions that appear on the touch panel display, to remove the jammed paper.

1.
Close the cover that is open.
CAUTION
When closing the cover, be careful not to get your fingers caught, as this may result in personal injury.
2.
Open the front cover of the Buffer Pass Unit-J1.
3.
Open the lower guide and upper guide of the Buffer Pass Unit-J1.
1. Open the lower guide.
2. Open the upper guide.
4.
Turn the knob, and remove any jammed paper.
1. Turn the knob to the right.
2. Remove any jammed paper from the lower guide.
3. Turn the knob to the left.
4. Remove any jammed paper from the upper guide.
5.
Close the lower guide and upper guide of the Buffer Pass Unit-J1.
1. Close the upper guide.
2. Close the lower guide.
CAUTION
When closing the guide, be careful not to get your fingers caught, as this may result in personal injury.
6.
Close the front cover of the Buffer Pass Unit-J1.

When closing the cover, be careful not to get your fingers caught, as this may result in personal injury.
7.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
NOTE
The screen indicating the directions on how to clear the paper jam is displayed repeatedly until the paper jam is cleared.
