Volume and Tone Settings

Pressing  (Volume Settings) on the control panel enables you to adjust the fax sending/receiving alarm volume and transmission volume. You can also set various tones to sound according to the operations performed or status of the device.
Adjusting the Alarm and Monitor Volume
You can set the volume for the alarm and monitor tones that this machine sounds during a fax transmission.
This mode can be set when the Fax function is available for use. For information on the optional products required to use the Fax function, see "Optional Products Required for Each Function."

Press  (Volume Settings) on the control panel.

Press  or → set <Alarm Volume> and <Monitor Volume> → press [OK].
You can set the volume to any level on a scale of 0 to 9.
If you set the volume all the way to the left, the volume is muted and no tone will sound.
Setting the Operation and Device Status Tones
You can set whether to sound the following audible tones. The tones below sound at the following times:
[Entry Tone]:
When pressing keys on the control panel, keys on the touch panel display, or keys on a USB keyboard. When turning ON the main power of the machine if you set [Quick Startup Settings for Main Power] to 'On' in [Preferences] (Settings/Registration). (Depending on the situations, the machine does not startup quickly and the tone does not sound.)
[Invalid Entry Tone]:
When you press an invalid key on the control panel or touch panel display, or when the maximum number of characters is exceeded.
[Restock Supplies Tone]:
When the toner cartridge needs to be replaced.
[Sleep Mode Tone]:
When the machine goes in the Sleep mode. When turning OFF the main power of the machine if you set [Quick Startup Settings for Main Power] to 'On' in [Preferences] (Settings/Registration). (Depending on the situations, the machine does not startup quickly and the tone does not sound.)
[Error Tone]:
When a malfunction occurs (e.g., paper jam or operational error).
[Job Done Tone]:
After a job completes.
[Memory RX/TX End Tone]:
When Fax Memory Lock sending/receiving completes without an error.
[Memory RX/TX Err. Tone]:
When Fax Memory Lock sending/receiving completes with an error.
[Memory RX/TX End Tone] and [Memory RX/TX Err. Tone] can be set when the Fax function is available for use. For information on the optional products required to use the Fax function, see "Optional Products Required for Each Function."

Press  (Volume Settings) on the control panel.

Press [Audible Tones].
If the fax board is not installed, this step is not necessary. Proceed to step 3.

Specify each setting → press [Next] → [OK].

NOTE
The alarm tone sounds when sending or receiving is canceled or when printing a received fax is completed.
The monitor tone sounds when it connects to the recipient's fax machine.
The ring count you set may change according to the ring signal, if you are connected to a PBX, etc.
