Advanced Box Addresses

Return to Overview

You can register the Advanced Box of another machine which is opened externally by SMB or WebDAV as a destination in the Address Book.

Remark
  • To send to an Advanced Box, it must be opened externally as an SMB server or WebDAV server in advance. You can also manage authentication for the users of the Advanced Box. For information on the settings for using an Advanced Box, see "Advanced Box/Network Settings" in "Scan and Store" and "Access Stored Files."
  • If [Language/Keyboard Switch On/Off] is set to 'On' in [Display Settings] in [Preferences] (Settings/Registration), the host name and folder path of the file server destination may not be displayed correctly, so you may not be able to refer to them.

  1. Press [Address Book].

  1. Press [Register/Edit].

  1. Press [Register New Dest.].

  1. Press [File].

  1. Press [Name] → enter a name for the file server → press [OK].

  • If you want to search the destination, search is performed using the text entered here. To search, you can sort the destination by the initial letter or narrow the search for destination by using a maximum of 24 characters. For more information on refining the destination, see "Using the Address Book."
  1. Press the Address List drop-down list → select one of the numbered Address Lists.

Address Lists 1 to 10 are used to divide the Address Book into 10 parts, called Address Lists. This is a convenient way to classify destinations.

The file server address that you enter will be stored in the Address List that you select here.

  1. Press the Protocol drop-down list → select the desired sending protocol.

Select [Windows (SMB)] or [WebDAV].

  • To save files in the Advanced Box of an imageRUNNER ADVANCE machine with an imagePASS attached, select [WebDAV]. (Windows (SMB) cannot be used.)
  • If you set [Enter Password Each Time] to 'On', a screen to enter the registered password appears when you try to send to a registered file server. If you want to register a group address, set [Enter Password Each Time] to 'Off'. If it is set to 'On', you cannot send to a group address.
  • If you specify the file server that you set to 'On' for [Enter Password Each Time] as the forwarding destination, the screen to enter the password does not appear. The received document is automatically forwarded using the registered password.
  • If you select [Windows (SMB)] as the server protocol, you can specify an Advanced Box on the network by pressing [Browse]. For instructions on using the Browse key, see "Using the Browse Key (Windows (SMB))."
  • If you select [Windows (SMB)] as the server protocol, you can specify an Advanced Box the network by pressing [Search Host]. For instructions on using the Search Host key, see "Using the Search Host Key (Windows (SMB))."

  • If you select [WebDAV]:

  • If you select [Windows (SMB)]:
  • Specify [Host Name].

Press [Host Name] → enter the IP address or host name of the destination imageRUNNER ADVANCE machine plus "\share" or "\users" → press [OK].
Example:
To save to the Shared Space: \\192.168.100.50\share
To save to the Personal Space: \\192.168.100.50\users

  • To send to the Advanced Box of a machine from the same machine, it is recommended that you specify a loopback address (an address that indicates the same device on a network). Specify the loopback address as indicated below.
  • Using an IP address (IPv4 format): 127.0.0.1
  • Using an IP address (IPv6 format): [::1]
  • Using a host name: localhos
  • If you specify a loopback address, you can use the following functions
  • You can use the URI sending function to notify a user via e-mail that a file has been saved. (See "Specifying the URI TX Settings" in "Remote UI.")
  • You can save to the Advanced Box even if [Prohibit Writing from External] is set to 'On'. (See "Prohibiting Writing from External Users" in "Security.")
  • For information on whether you can specify the destination imageRUNNER ADVANCE machine using a host name, consult your system administrator.
  • Press [Folder Path].

Press [Folder Path] → enter a folder path → press [OK]. A folder path is a series of characters that signify the location of the folder. Here, specify which folder under the Shared Space (share) or Personal Space (users) to save the document to.

  • You cannot store data directly in the Shared Space (share) or Personal Space (users) of the destination.
  • Press [User Name] and [Password].

If authentication management is used for the destination Advanced Box, enter a user name and password registered in the destination.

  • If you select [WebDAV]:
  • Specify [Host Name].

Press [Host Name] → enter the IP address or host name of the destination imageRUNNER ADVANCE machine → press [OK].

  • Specify [Host Name] as indicated below.
  • If SSL is invalid: http://<IP address or host name>
  • If SSL is valid: https://<IP address or host name>
  • To send to the Advanced Box of a machine from the same machine, it is recommended that you specify a loopback address (an address that indicates the same device on a network). Specify the loopback address as indicated below.
  • Using an IP address (IPv4 format): 127.0.0.1
  • Using an IP address (IPv6 format): [::1]

  • You can save to the Advanced Box even if [Prohibit Writing from External] is set to 'On'. (See "Prohibiting Writing from External Users" in "Security.")
  • If the destination imageRUNNER ADVANCE machine has an imagePASS attached, specify [Host name] as indicated below.
  • To send to the Advanced Box of another machine with an imagePASS attached:
If SSL is invalid: http://<IP address or host name>:18080
If SSL is valid: https://<IP address or host name>:18443
  • To send to the Advanced Box of this machine if it has an imagePASS attached (using a loopback address):
