This section describes the various settings for the Advanced Box such as the Open to Public settings, user authentication settings, and whether to allow users to use the Personal Space.
Setting the Advanced Box to Be Opened Externally as a WebDAV/SMB Server
You can set whether to make the Advanced Box of the machine open externally as a WebDAV server or SMB server on the network. Also, you can set whether to manage authentication for users of the Advanced Box which is opened externally. If authentication management is used, only users registered in [User Access Control for Advanced Box] can use the Advanced Box. (See "User Access Control for Advanced Box.")

Press (Settings/Registration).
2.
Press [Function Settings] → [Store/Access Files] → [Advanced Box Settings].
3.
Press [Open to Public] → select the type of server → press [OK].
[By WebDAV]:
The Advanced Box is opened externally as a WebDAV server.
[By SMB]:
The Advanced Box is opened externally as an SMB server.
Select [Off] if you do not want to open the Advanced Box externally.
IMPORTANT
If the imagePASS or ColorPASS is attached to the machine, you cannot open the Advanced Box of the machine externally as an SMB server. Set to open as a WebDAV server on the network.
The Advanced Box cannot be opened externally as a WebDAV server and SMB server at the same time.
To open the Advanced Box externally by SMB, it is necessary to set [Use SMB Server] to 'On' in [Preferences] (Settings/Registration). (See "SMB and WINS Settings.")
To open the Advanced Box externally by WebDAV, it is necessary to set [Use WebDAV Server] to 'On' in [Preferences] (Settings/Registration). (See "Settings Common to TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6.")

Press [Authentication Management] → set authentication management for the Advanced Box to be opened externally.
If you set the Advanced Box to be opened externally as an SMB server and use authentication management:

If you do not use authentication management:
IMPORTANT
For more information on authentication management, see "User Access Control for Advanced Box."
If you set the Advanced Box to be opened externally as an SMB server and use authentication management:
Press [On].
IMPORTANT
To use authentication management, it is necessary to set <Use SMB Authentication> in [SMB Auth. Settings] in [Preferences] (Settings/Registration) to 'On', and set the authentication type. (See "SMB and WINS Settings.")
If you set the Advanced Box to be opened externally as a WebDAV server and use authentication management:
Press [On] → [OK].
Press [WebDAV Server Settings] → [Basic].
IMPORTANT
To use authentication management, it is necessary to set the authentication type (Basic) in [WebDAV Server Settings].
Set whether to use SSL for the Advanced Box that is opened externally by WebDAV.
<Use SSL>:
[On]:
SSL communication is used.
[Off]:
SSL communication is not used.
IMPORTANT
To set <Use SSL> to 'On', it is necessary to first set the key pair and server certificate (see "Key Pair and Server Certificate Settings for Encrypted SSL Communication") and then set the key as the default key (see "Setting the Key Pair Used With SSL Encrypted Communications").
If you do not use authentication management:
Press [Off].
5.
Press [OK].
NOTE
Changes are only effective after you restart the machine (the main power switch is turned OFF, and then back ON). For instruction on restarting (turning the main power switch OFF and then ON) the machine, see "Before You Start Using This Machine."
Allowing to Create Personal Spaces
You can set whether to allow personal spaces to be created in the Advanced Box.
1.
Press (Settings/Registration).
2.
Press [Function Settings] → [Store/Access Files] → [Advanced Box Settings].
3.
Press [Allow to Create Personal Space] → [On] → [OK].
If you do not want to allow personal spaces to be created, press [Off].
4.
Press [Authentication Management] → [On] → [OK].
IMPORTANT
If you want to allow personal spaces to be created, make sure you use authentication management.
For more information on authentication management, see "User Access Control for Advanced Box."
Deleting All Personal Spaces/Initializing the Shared Space
You can delete all personal spaces in the Advanced Box and delete all folders and files stored in the shared space of the Advanced Box.
1.
Press (Settings/Registration).
2.
Press [Function Settings] → [Store/Access Files] → [Advanced Box Settings].
3.
Delete data stored in the Advanced Box.

Press [Delete All Personal Spaces].
NOTE
To select and delete a personal space that a user has created, use the Remote UI. For more information, see "Specifying the Advanced Box Settings."
If the Advanced Box is opened externally as an SMB or WebDAV server, the Advanced Box administrator can delete the folders and files created by general users by directly connecting to the Advanced Box from Windows Explorer on a computer.
To delete all folders and files stored in the shared space:
Press [Initialize Shared Space].
NOTE
To select and delete a folder inside the shared space, use the Remote UI. For more information, see "Specifying the Advanced Box Settings."
4.
Press [Yes].
Prohibiting Writing from External Users
For users that accessed the machine via a computer or another imageRUNNER ADVANCE series machine, you can set whether to prohibit those users from creating a folder or storing a file in the Advanced Box opened externally.
1.
Press (Settings/Registration).
2.
Press [Function Settings] → [Store/Access Files] → [Advanced Box Settings].
3.
Press [Prohibit Writing from External] → [On] → [OK].
Select [Off] if you want to allow external users to create folders and store files.
IMPORTANT
To send to the Advanced Box of a machine from the same machine, it is recommended that you specify a loopback address (an address that indicates the machine on a network). You can store files sent from a loopback address even if [Prohibit Writing from External] is set to 'On'. For instructions on registering an Advanced Box folder as a destination in the Address Book, see "Registering an Advanced Box Address."
NOTE
Even if [Prohibit Writing from External] is set to 'On' for an Advanced Box that is opened externally, the Advanced Box administrator can perform the following operations:
Operate folders/edit files by directly connecting to the Advanced Box from Windows Explorer on a computer.
Operate folders/edit files from [Network] in [Scan and Store] or [Access Stored Files] on the touch panel display.
Setting the File Formats Allowed for Storing
You can set the file formats allowed for storing in the Advanced Box.
1.
Press (Settings/Registration).
2.
Press [Function Settings] → [Store/Access Files] → [Advanced Box Settings].
3.
Press [File Formats Allowed for Storing] → set the file formats allowed for storing → press [OK].
Details of each item are shown below:
[Dev. Supt. Formats]:
You can store files in pdf, jpg, jpe, jpeg, tif, tiff, xps, pptx, and docx format.
[Comm. Office Formats]:
In addition to the file formats for [Dev. Supt. Formats], you can store files in doc, docm, rtf, xls, xlsx, xlsm, csv, ppt, pptm, txt, iwd, iwt, iws, or lnk format.
[All]:
There are no restrictions on the file formats for storing in the Advanced Box. In addition to the file formats for [Dev. Supt. Formats] and [Comm. Office Formats], you can store files in various formats.
Saving Operation Logs for the Advanced Box
If you have operation logs performed to the Advanced Box, you can check and trace the recorded user operations.
When this function is set to 'on', you can create operation logs for the Advanced Box. You can export/import the logs stored in the machine with the Remote UI.
IMPORTANT
For more information on the method for managing operation logs for the Advanced Box, see "Audit Log Management."

Press (Settings/Registration).
2.
Press [Function Settings] → [Store/Access Files] → [Advanced Box Settings].
3.
Press [Save Operation Log] → [On] → [OK].
If you do not want to save operation logs for the Advanced Box, press [Off].
