Cleaning the Feeder

If lines or stains appear on the documents scanned from the feeder or if marks are printed on the output paper, clean Feeder. If lines or marks still appear, clean the rollers using the built-in function (Roller Inside the Feeder).

Feeder

Clean the feeder with a soft, well-wrung cloth dampened with water. Then, wipe the area with a dry, soft cloth.

Turn OFF the machine, and unplug the power cord from the AC power outlet. Turning OFF the Machine
IMPORTANT:
Check the machine's operation status before turning it OFF. You can turn OFF the machine while a process is active, but a problem may occur, which may cause you to lose or damage data.

Clean the scanning area on the platen glass.
Open the feeder.
Clean the scanning area.
Clean the thin glass strip. Do not use any detergent.

Open the scanning area cover, and then open the inside cover.
Pull the lever above the feeder, and open the scanning area cover.
Gently open the scanning area cover so as not to damage the platen glass.
Hold the tab above the inside cover, and open the inside cover in the direction of the arrow.

Clean the document scanning area in the feeder.
Clean the thin glass strip. Do not use any detergent.
Wait until the water has dried completely proceeding to the next step.

Close the inside cover, close the scanning area cover until it clicks, and then gently close the feeder.

Pull the lever and open the feeder cover.

Clean the rollers (a total of five places) inside the feeder cover.

Close the feeder cover.

Clean the resin rollers.
Open the feeder.
Clean the left side of the white rubber roller.
Gently close the feeder.

Reconnect the power cord and turn ON the machine. Turning ON the Machine

Roller Inside the Feeder

When dust and graphite powder adhere to the rollers inside the feeder, streaks and smudge marks may appear on scanned documents and may be printed on the paper. If this happens, clean the rollers using the built-in function. Before you start cleaning, load ten sheets of plain LTR size paper in the feeder. Placing Documents

Cleaning of the feeder takes approximately 20 seconds. When the cleaning is complete, the <Clean Feeder is complete.> message is displayed. Check that printing has been performed properly by using the feeder to make a copy.
