SMB/CIFS Network Setup Procedures
08JK-211
To use an SMB/CIFS network, it is necessary to perform the following procedures.
1 Protocol Settings
Specify the protocol settings. To specify the settings, use one of the following:
The machine's control panel
The Remote UI (via a Web browser)
2 Setting Up a Computer for Printing/Sending a Fax
Specify the settings of each computer you use for printing or sending a fax. (Optional equipment may be required for printing from computers and sending faxes, depending on the model of your machine. For information on the optional products required, see "Optional Equipment and System Requirements.")
3 Setting Up a Computer as a File Server
Specify the settings of the computer receiving data sent from the machine.

IMPORTANT
It is recommended that you consult the administrator for the network you are using when performing the settings in steps 1 and 3.
The only base protocols supported by the machine for SMB/CIFS networks are TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6. NetBEUI is not supported (SMB is used as a print application).
If you are using the imagePASS or the ColorPASS, see the manual provided with the imagePASS or the ColorPASS.
If you are using the imagePASS or the ColorPASS, some functions are not available with this machine. For details, see the manual provided with the imagePASS or the ColorPASS.
