Using Subaddresses for Secure Transmission
You can send faxes using the subaddress function (a function that attaches a password and sends faxes to the destination's memory box).
If you enter a password with the subaddress when sending a fax, the document data is sent to a memory box in the destination's fax and stored. This function is convenient when sending confidential documents as faxes.
IMPORTANT
When using the subaddress function, the destination's fax must support subaddress communication.
Faxes can be sent using the subaddress function only when using a device that is provided with a fax board as standard.

Click [Sending Settings].
See "Faxing" or "Specifying the Default Fax Settings" on how to display the fax driver screen.

Specify the destination name and fax number.
If the destination is already registered in the address book, you can select the destination from the address book. For details about how to select an address from the address book, see "Faxing."

Click [Settings].

Select [Use Subaddress] → enter a subaddress and password in [Subaddress] and [Password] → click [OK].

Confirm the settings in [Advanced Function] → click [Add to Destination List].
NOTE
If you have selected [Reenter Fax Number before adding Destination to [Destination List]] in the [Security Settings] dialog box of the [Special] tab, the [Confirm Password] dialog box is displayed when you click [Add to Destination List]. For details, see the online help (see "Viewing the Online Help").

If you are sending to multiple destinations, repeat steps 2 to 5.

Click [OK].
If you are using the subaddress function, the data is sent to and stored in a memory box in the destination device. The data can only be output if the correct password is entered.

The display may vary according to the operating system and fax driver version you are using.
