Cleaning the Platen Glass

If the platen glass or the bottom of the feeder is dirty, documents may not be scanned clearly or paper size may not be detected properly. Clean them by the following procedures periodically.

Turn OFF the machine, and unplug the power cord from the AC power outlet. Turning OFF the Machine
IMPORTANT:
Check the machine's operation status before turning it OFF. You can turn OFF the machine while a process is active, but a problem may occur, which may cause you to lose or damage data.

Open the feeder and clean the platen glass and the bottom of the feeder.
Clean the platen glass.
Clean the platen glass using the supplied glass-cleaning sheet.
Clean the bottom of the feeder.
Clean the area with a soft, well-wrung cloth dampened with water. Then, wipe the area with a dry, soft cloth. Wait until the water has dried completely before proceeding to the next step.
NOTE:
If dust and grime cannot be removed, apply a mild detergent to a soft cloth, wring it thoroughly, and wipe the dirty area. Then, wipe the area again with a dry, soft cloth.

Gently close the feeder.
