If the platen glass or the underside of the feeder is dirty, the original may not be scanned clearly, or the size of the original may be detected incorrectly.
The location of the Duplex Color Image Reader Unit-H1 is indicated in the following illustration.
Clean the platen glass and the underside of the feeder by following the procedure below.
NOTE
This procedure is necessary only if the Duplex Color Image Reader Unit-H1 is attached.

1.
Clean the platen glass and the underside of the feeder with a cloth which is wrung after being dampened in water, and then wipe them clean with a soft, dry cloth.
1. Clean the platen glass.
2. Clean the underside of the feeder.
NOTE
If stains will not come out, clean the platen glass and the underside of the feeder with a cloth which is wrung after being dampened in water with detergent, and then wipe them clean with a soft, dry cloth.
Use the glass cleaning cloth provided as a machine accessory of the Duplex Color Image Reader Unit-H1 when simple cleaning.
When glass cleaning cloth becomes dirty, wash and rinse, and then spread it out to dry.
