Sample Macintosh Network |
In Mac OS 8/9, the AppleTalk (EtherTalk) protocol is used. In Mac OS X, either the AppleTalk (EtherTalk), TCP/IP, or NetBIOS (NetBIOS over TCP/IP) protocol can be used. To use the e-mail/I-fax function or to send data, the TCP/IP protocol is required. After configuring the settings in accordance with "Connecting the Machine to a Computer or Network," "Interface Settings," or "Communication Environment Setup," specify an AppleTalk (Macintosh), TCP/IP, or SMB/CIFS network, depending on the protocol. |
