Selecting the Copy Paper Size (Paper Select)

Remark
  • When printing on special types of paper, such as heavy paper or transparencies, be sure to correctly set the paper type, especially if you are using heavy paper. If the type of paper is not set correctly, it could adversely affect the quality of the image. Moreover, the fixing unit may become dirty, or the paper could jam, and a service repair may be needed.

  1. Select the paper source.

The paper sizes/types are indicated by icons on the touch panel display, in the order in which they are loaded in the paper drawers (Manual Paper Selection).

Press [Auto Select Paper] to set the machine to automatically select the copy paper size.

To select the multi-purpose tray for the current job, or to reserve the multi-purpose tray for a reserved job, select [Change MP Tray Paper].

  • The following types of originals cannot be copied by using Automatic Paper Selection. Copy these using Manual Paper Selection:
  • Custom Sized originals
  • Highly transparent originals, such as transparencies
  • Originals with an extremely dark background
  • STMT, STMTR or smaller originals (however, STMT originals can be detected when placed in the feeder)
  • If you select Change MP Tray Paper:

  • If you select Change MP Tray Paper:
  • Press [Set Paper].
  • Press [Change MP Tray Paper].
  • Select the paper size → press [Next].
  • If you select a Custom Size paper, the Auto Zoom, Fit to Page, Auto XY Zoom, Finishing, 1-Sided2-Sided, 2-Sided2-Sided, Book2-Sided, Book2 Pages, Add Cover, Insert Sheets, Image Combination, Booklet, Transparency Cover Sheets, Shift, Image Repeat, Superimpose Image, Page Numbering, Copy Set Numbering, Watermark, Print Date, Secure Watermark, Merge Job Blocks, or Store in Mail Box mode cannot be specified. (However, if you select 5 1/2" × 7 1/8" to 13" × 19 13/64" (139.7 mm × 182 mm to 330.2 mm × 487.7 mm) size paper, 12-Sided and 22-Sided modes can be specified.)
  • If the envelope type is not set correctly, a paper jam will occur.
  • Do not use envelopes that have glue attached to their flaps, as the glue may melt due to the heat and pressure of the fixing unit.
  • If you select [Envelope], the Finishing, 1-Sided2-Sided, 2-Sided2-Sided, Book2-Sided, Book2 Pages, Front Cover, Back Cover, Insert Sheets, Booklet, Transparency Cover Sheets, Image Combination, Superimpose Image, or Merge Job Blocks mode cannot be specified.
  • When placing paper other than a standard size, press [Custom Size].
  • To copy on envelopes, press [Envelope] → select the envelope type → press [OK].
  • To select an A or B series paper size, press [A/B-size].
  • Select the desired paper type → press [OK].
  • [Transparency] can be selected only if [LTR] is selected as the paper size.
