Obtaining the Public Key of the Machine to Use SSL with Windows Server 2008/Vista/7/Server 2008 R2/8/Server 2012
If you want to use IPPS printing, it is necessary to obtain the public key of the machine and install it in Windows Server 2008/Vista/7/Server 2008 R2/8/Server 2012 by following the procedure below.
1.
Start the Remote UI of the machine → click [Continue to this website (not recommended)].
2.
Double-click [Internet | Protected Mode:On], located on the bottom-right of the Web browser.
3.
Select [Trusted sites] → click [Sites].
https://<the IP address or host name of the machine> appears.
4.
Click [Add] → [Close].
5.
If [Enable Protected Mode (requires restarting Internet Explorer)] is selected, deselect it → click [OK].
The display returns to the Remote UI screen.
6.
Close the Web browser → start the Web browser → perform step 1 again.
7.
Click [Certificate Error] on the right of the address bar → select [View certificates].
8.
Confirm [Install Certificate] in the dialog box that appears.
9.
In the certificate import wizard, click [Next] → select [Place all certificates in the following store] → click [Browse].
10.
Select [Trusted Root Certification Authorities] → follow the instructions on the screen to close the wizard.
11.
If you deselected [Enable Protected Mode (requires restarting Internet Explorer)] in step 5, select it again.
