Specifying the SSL Encrypted Communication Settings
SMS uses SSL encrypted communication. To use SMS, you need to set the key pair and server certificate as the default key in advance. A preinstalled key pair and server certificate are registered in the machine.
NOTE
If you try to access SMS without the default key set, 'HTTP 500 Internal Server Error' is displayed and login fails.
By setting the default key, SMS will always use encrypted SSL communications, regardless of whether [Use SSL] in [MEAP Settings] in [Management Settings] (Settings/Registration) is set to 'On' or 'Off'.

1.
Press (Settings/Registration).
2.
Press [Preferences] → [Network] → [TCP/IP Settings].
3.
Press [SSL Settings] → [Key and Certificate].
4.
Select 'Default Key' (preinstalled key pair and server certificate) → press [Set as the Default Key].
5.
Press [Yes].
6.
Press [OK] → [OK].

NOTE
For instructions on creating the key pair and self-signed server certificate required for SSL encrypted communication using the control panel of the machine, see "Key Pair and Server Certificate Settings for Encrypted SSL Communication" (Security).
For instructions on setting the key pair used for encrypted SSL communication, see "Setting the Key Pair Used With SSL Encrypted Communications" (Network).
