Lower Feeding Unit/Paper Decks of the Main Unit
This section describes how to clear a paper jam which occurs in the lower feeding unit/paper decks of the main unit. The location of the lower feeding unit/paper decks of the main unit is indicated in the following illustration.
IMPORTANT
Make sure to perform all procedures without omitting.
NOTE
The procedure 4 and 12 are not necessary when the optional paper sources are not attached to the main unit.
The following illustration indicates the location of the paper jam. Please refer to it to remove the jammed paper.
Follow the procedure described below, while referring to the location of the paper jam and the directions that appear on the touch panel display, to remove the jammed paper.

1.
Open the front cover of the marking engine.
Open the right side of the front cover first.
2.
Open the guide (B-D) until it clicks into place.
CAUTION
When opening the guide, be careful not to get your fingers caught, as this may result in personal injury.
3.
Remove any jammed paper.
4.
Perform one of the following operations when the optional paper feeding device is attached.
If the POD Deck-D1 is attached:
Open the front cover of the buffer pass unit.
If the POD Deck Lite-C1 is attached:
Press the release button, and move the POD Deck Lite-C1 away from the main unit.
If LONG SHEET TRAY-A1 is attached:
Press the open lever to open LONG SHEET TRAY-A1.

Press the button to open the cover (B-A1).
6.
Remove any jammed paper.
7.
Turn the dial (B-A2) in the direction of the arrow, and remove any jammed paper.
8.
Push the lever to open the guide (B-A3).
9.
Remove any jammed paper.
10.
Close the guide (B-A3).

CAUTION
When closing the guide, be careful not to get your fingers caught, as this may result in personal injury.
11.
Close the cover (B-A1) until it clicks into place.

When closing the cover, be careful not to get your fingers caught, as this may result in personal injury.
12.
Perform one of the following operations when the optional paper feeding device is attached.
If the POD Deck-D1 is attached:
Close the front cover of the buffer pass unit.
CAUTION
When closing the cover, be careful not to get your fingers caught, as this may result in personal injury.
If the POD Deck Lite-C1 is attached:
Reconnect the POD Deck Lite-C1 to the main unit.
CAUTION
When reconnecting the POD Deck Lite-C1 to the main unit, be careful not to get your fingers caught, as this may result in personal injury.
IMPORTANT
When reconnecting the POD Deck Lite-C1 to the main unit, confirm that the cover (A-A1) of the main unit side is closed properly.
If LONG SHEET TRAY-A1 is attached:
Close LONG SHEET TRAY-A1.
CAUTION
Be careful not to catch your fingers when closing LONG SHEET TRAY-A1.
13.
Push the button on the right paper deck.
14.
Grip the handle, and pull out the paper deck until it stops.
IMPORTANT
Do not pull out the paper deck by force.
15.
Remove any jammed paper.
16.
Turn the dial (B-E) in the direction of the arrow (clockwise).
17.
Remove any jammed paper.
18.
Close the right paper deck.
CAUTION
When closing the paper deck, be careful not to get your fingers caught, as this may result in personal injury.
19.
Lift up the guide (B-D) and close it.
CAUTION
When closing the guide, be careful not to get your fingers caught, as this may result in personal injury.
20.
Push the button on the left paper deck.
21.
Grip the handle, and pull out the paper deck until it stops.
IMPORTANT
Do not pull out the paper deck by force.
22.
Remove any jammed paper.
23.
Close the left paper deck.
CAUTION
When closing the paper deck, be careful not to get your fingers caught, as this may result in personal injury.
24.
Close the front cover of the marking engine.
Close the left side of the front cover first.
CAUTION
When closing the front cover, be careful not to get your fingers caught, as this may result in personal injury.
25.
Follow the instructions on the touch panel display.
NOTE
The screen indicating the directions on how to clear the paper jam is displayed repeatedly until the paper jam is cleared. (See "Clearing Paper Jams.")
