(Note) This printer can be used only with software running on Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition.
This printer will operate only with the operating systems listed above.

3. Cautions, Limitations and Restrictions ----------------------

Note the following limitations when using the printer driver or printing a document with a printer.

- Before installing this software, be sure to check the following.
1.Close any application software running on your computer.
2. If a document is being printed, either stop printing or wait for printing to end.
3. Close Properties dialog box in the printer driver.

- If the application software's media size setting and the printer driver's Page Size setting in the Page Setup sheet of the Properties dialog box are different, printing with the specified Media Size may not occur. If this happens, set the application software's media size and the printer driver's Page Size to the same setting.

- If setting of the printer driver's Page Size from the application software is not possible, open the Page Setup sheet from the printer driver's Properties dialog box from Printers in the Start menu's Settings beforehand, and after setting 3Page Size, start up the application software.

- Some applications feature a function for collating. Do not use this function when Page Layout Printing is selected in Page Layout in the Layout sheet in the Properties dialog box. If you do, the layout may not be correct.

- When using scaling function, an error occurring from the difference between the degree of scaling and resolution may cause lines and other distortions to appear in the printout.

- When printing reduced scaling color image data, 1 dot wide lines and points may not be printed.

- Some applications may not print lines with almost horizontal angles correctly. If this occurs, redraw lines horizontally.

- Immediately after installing the printer driver (including new editions), some application software may not be able to recognize new functions. Select Print in the File menu of all application software with a printer function, and then select the name of the printer you're using, and click the Properties button. When the Properties dialog box opens, click the OK button to close.

- When a watermark is specified with too many letters, or with letters in very large font sizes, the watermark may not print.

- High resolution printing requires a large amount of computer memory. If there is very little computer memory available or you are using a large amount of application software, the application software may not operate normally. If this is the case, restart Windows, and close application software that is not used when restarting printing. If printing does not perform normally, in the printer driver open the Properties dialog box, open the Main sheet, then select a lower resolution for the Print Quality setting.

- With a local connection, click the Spool Settings button in the Details sheet of the printer driver's Properties dialog box to open the Spool Settings dialog box. If there is no check mark on Enable bi-directional support for this printer, printer information and device information cannot be obtained as normal.

- With some application software, there may be a slight discrepancy in the printing position.

- With draw type application software, when printing multi-layered data, a comparatively large amount of disk space is required. If there is not enough disk space, a message is displayed, printing is interrupted, and system operation may become unstable. If this occurs, increase your hard disk capacity.

- Correct printing may not be possible if extremly large characters are in bold, italic or otherwise modified.

- If you specify a directly connected network printer as the destination with Print to the following port in the Details sheet of the printer driver's Properties dialog box, printing may not be possible with some application software. If this occurs, click the Capture Printer Port button in the Details sheet, input details in the form of "\\servername\printcuename" in Path, and specify the assigned device name to Print to the following port, and printing may be possible.

- If there is not enough temporary disk space (usually a Temp folder in a Windows folder), normal printing may not be possible. If this is the case, delete files that do not require a temporary area.

- If you try and create a picture by painting an area with small figures with no spaces between them when using the enlarge/reduce printing function to enlarge or reduce the size of an image, due to rounding errors caused by position and size changes when enlarging or reducing, spaces may occur between the figures and figures may be printed on top of each other.

- With watermark printing, if you specify White for the stamp character color, and specify the Transparent item, stamp characters are not printed.

- With Windows Me, if you delete USB port registered with Print to the following port in the Details sheet of the printer driver's Properties dialog box displayed from the Printers folder when using a printer connected by USB, a system error occurs. Do not delete USB port.

- With Canon FormCraft Pro., if you use the Job Division function, there may be restrictions when you try printing.

- When performing background printing with Microsoft Word 98, do not change the printer's resolution setting. If you do, Windows operation may become unstable.

- When printing with Adobe Acrobat Reader, the font may change.

- With Microsoft Excel, when Collate has a check mark and you perform multiple sheet printing or Entire workbook printing with different printing settings for each sheet, if you perform Page Layout Printing, the results may not be those intended.

- When using the installer in a NetWare environment, normal installation may not be possible. If this occurs, after deleting the old driver, install the printer driver from Add Printer.

- When printing data volume is large, the printer may take time out during printing, and printing may not be possible. If this occurs, open the printer Properties dialog box for the printer you are using from the Printers folder, click on the Spool Settings button in the Details sheet, open the Spool Settings dialog box and put a check mark on Start printing after last page is spooled in Spool print jobs so program finishes printing faster.

- Thin line, gradation etc. printing may not be possible. If this occurs, open the printer driver's Properties dialog box from Print in the application software's File menu, and try printing following the steps below.
1. Remove the check from Open Preview When Print Job Starts in the Main sheet.
2. Remove the check from Page Layout in the Layout sheet.

- When there is a large volume of print data, the printer may take time out during printing, and printing may not be possible. If this occurs, extending the Job Time Out set time with the printer's operation panel may enable printing.

- When installing this software from the installer, if you fail to follow the screen instruction to restart your computer, Microsoft Office may operate incorrectly. If this occurs, restart your computer.

- To switch the units display between inches (US) and mm (Metric) for the Media Size settings and other displays, in the menu for the Regional Options in the OS control panel, select Input Locales.

- If you are using NDS (Novell Directory Services) in a NetWare environment, or using NDPS (Novell Distributed Print Services), then install the printer driver with the Add Printer icon in the Printers folder. The printer driver may not install correctly using the installer.

- If you are using the printer in a Windows 98 SE environment where the printer is being shared, you may not be able to install Point and Print correctly from a client computer. In this case, use the following procedure to install.
1. Install the driver temporarily on LPT1 of the client computer.
2. After installation, click the Port Settings button on the Details sheet of the printer driver's Properties dialog box. Enter the path for the shared printer:\\Computer\Printer1.

- If you are using Windows 98 SE or Windows Me, one printer is used with both USB and network connection, please install the GARO Status Monitor.

- For some applications, when using functions such as Scaling, N Pages per Sheet, and Edging, output with graphics data may diverge from the original.

- Color settings dialog box can be performed for each object. However, with some software applications the print results may not be what you expect after text and graphic data handling.

- When using Microsoft Word, documents designated for Zoom printing may not be enlarged or reduced as specified. To use the Zoom function, first select Start - Settings - Printers, and right-click on the name of the printer you use. Then select Properties, and specify the paper size in the Page Setup tab. Now you are ready to start the application.

- When changing the printer name in the Printer dialog box, the custom Profile settings for the printer driver are deleted. Before changing the name, save the Profile settings as files and upload them after changing the printer name.

- When printing large image data from a computer with little available memory, it may take time to print. If this occurs, try printing after performing the following.
Open the Layout sheet for the printer driver's Properties dialog box, and click the Special Settings button. Remove the check from Fast Graphic Process.
Increase the amount of memory allotted to your computer.

- The Point and Print feature cannot be used as either a server or client with Windows 98 SE or Windows Me.

- Stamps and Page Border cannot be printed with the following combinations of Print Quality and Paper Size settings:
Print Quality of 600 dpi with a Paper Size longer than 1350 mm (4'5")
Print Quality of 300 dpi with a Paper Size longer than 2700 mm (8'10")

- If you used Photoshop for printing, tone jump may occur in the gradation of monochrome photographs.
